    1. Every time I think I m being too hard on contemporary American poetry, I read another recent collection from that confirms my feeling so much of it is dull, is not inventive or challenging, is barely passionate Is extraordinarily forgettable Sorry, but the air is certainly NOT trembling in this volume, which is indistinguishable from 200 other books of poems from the past twenty years These are of Donald Hall s McPoems competent but blas Must go read Lorca to cleanse myself from the mediocrity.
