    1. Georgie Locatelli s enormous enthusiasm for Sicily and Sicilian food bounds off the page He loves Sicily or at least the parts of it he visits and the people he meets and chats and tells stories about ingredients and food traditions in between recipes. It s great to have such a collection of Sicilian recipes in one place As Locatelli s says, it s wonderful what can be created by combining few ingredients imaginatively Capers, anchovies, olives, citrus fruit, almonds, wild fennel, aubergine, beans [...]

    2. Georgio s love for Sicily, the land, the food, the culture, the people just bounces off every page This is not a cook book, the recipes are incidental in a way, to ingesting facts about a beautiful island in the Mediterranean I felt as though Georgio was talking to me, enthusiastically at all times, encouraging me to visit anf love this place as he so obviously does.

    3. Delicious recipes interspersed with short passages about the history and contemporary use of different ingredients, especially worth reading for the chapters on Vegetables and Desserts only bad points were the lack of pictures for most dishes would have been especially helpful when the instructions were trying to explain something quite complicated knowing what to aim for can really help and I wasn t too impressed with the ice creams, they needed milk powder and all different kinds of sugar syru [...]
