    1. Awesome A gritty, urban, paranormal title that will be great for 5th grade and up No romance hooray , strong smart girl main character, and best of all, it doesn t feel like an older YA title that got dumbed down for a younger audience Happy dance I can t wait to take this out to the schools when we do our pre summer reading booktalks Good dialog, great plot, and a leave you on the edge of your seat ending I wanted a little information on the actual how people become zombies, but not so much th [...]

    2. When Molly Bigelow drops a severed human finger into a zip lock bag thinking it is really cool, I couldn t help but think of my friend from childhood who had a spleen collection in her bedroom from all the animals she dissected in biology classes from high school and college Nothing grossed her out Nothing grosses Molly out either She s not afraid of much She helped her mom who was a forensic pathologist for the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner before dying of cancer two summers ag [...]

    3. Suspenseful, awesome, zombies, and zombie hunters My favorite character is Alex I really like how the code writing is the periodic table of elements I also like the crazy zombies Like the level 2 s and 3 s I definitely recommend it.

    4. My thoughts I LOVED this book Let s start with the cover which is cool and creepy Molly is ready to kick some serious zombie butt Love the omega sign hidden in title clever I have no doubt many kids will pick up this book based on the cover alone.Main character Molly is a smart, yet awkward 7th grader who is struggling to fit in and figure out where she belongs Everything in her life suddenly changes when she finds herself accepted into a secret society of zombie hunters called the Omega Society [...]

    5. Zombies are not my favorite thing to read about, frankly, I find the whole concept rather disgusting However, I found the premise of this series intriguing so I picked it up And I m glad I did While I didn t enjoy the zombies dripping flesh, yuck , I did enjoy Molly and her friends The plot here is rather different in that the most of the zombies aren t stupid, mindless creatures, but vary in terms of grossness and intelligence There are three levels of undead , Level three are the stupid, mindl [...]

    6. REVIEW written for WASHYARG Washington Young Adult Review Group Beginning cut not for spoilers, just because it s a plot summary and you can skip it if you just want to hear what I thought of the book view spoiler Precocious middle schooler Molly Bigelow is kind of an odd kid She goes to a special math and science school called MIST Metropolitan Institute of Science and Technology , spends her free time hanging out in the morgue her late mother worked in, and still has time for friends and famil [...]

    7. A MUST READ I purchased Dead City a few weeks ago at a local school book fair I was browsing the tables full of books when I came across this one The thing that caught my eye is the cover so I picked it up, read the back and thought that it sounded pretty interesting so I was going to give it a shot I am so glad that I did I LOVE everything about this book It is gritty, funny, suspenseful and down right spooky at times You will fall in love with the characters and their sense of humor, loyalty a [...]

Describe the book in 5 words Hilarious, suspenseful, gripping, adventurous, friendship.Favourite Character GraysonWhat I liked I really enjoyed how the book was very fast paced It had me guessing what was going to come next by giving clues throughout the book I also really like how it started with a prologue and came back to it in the second last chapter Would you recommend YES

    9. This book was recommended to me by my 11 year old son He said it was a MUST read He was right I truly enjoyed this book There wasn t a dull moment in this book and the story ran along very well I liked the protagonist and support characters It s a very well written book and such a fun read I now understand why my little guy liked it so much I m looking forward to book 2 and 3 in the series.

    10. It was a great book It was adventurous and not too fake The beginning is a bit slow but once you get a little further in the book it starts to pick up.The plot in the book is very action packed I really enjoyed this book because of the action and I like to read books that are part of a series.

    11. I loved this book because it wasn t just about zombies it had a very meaningful story behind it I definitely recommend reading it

    12. I absolutely loved Molly Her story starts out with her killing a zombie in the locker room missing a hand she previously lopped off Then while she waits for help with disposal of the body, she tells the story of how she got to be stuck in the locker room She is brainy and smart, and although she lost her brilliant Mother to cancerre she died she hooked Molly up with everything she would eventually need for the strange adventures that would come Molly s way Like being an Omega finding out about t [...]

    13. I felt I had to read this because my librarian recommended it, and I felt uncomfortable returning the book, pretending like I had read it But I ended up liking the story very much I did find it nearly impossible to accept the idea that four teenagers were part of an elite team to police and protect the undead Come on, you expect me to believe there aren t adults better suited for the task Sure they re ultra talented and intelligent teens, but maybe wait until they re of age I reminded myself tha [...]

    14. Describe the book in 5 words super, Mind blowing, too good, suspenseful, gory my favorite character is MollyI liked it because it was suspenseful It hooked me on every chapter The book was very descriptive in the book Would you recommend YES

    15. James Ponti is a liar In his bio, he states that he has never fought a zombie, yet his knowledge of the different levels of NYC zombies, I mean undead, suggests otherwise In Dead City, regular kid Molly Bigelow has a hard enough time being a motherless, socially inept geek who hangs out at the morgue in her spare time To suddenly find out she has inherited a legacy as both a zombieum, undead protector and police thrusts her into situations that she is just not emotionally ready to handle Althoug [...]

    16. Check Out Reviews at Scott Reads ItZombie books are just so exhilarating and intense Does that make me masochistic that I like to read about brain eating walking dead Whatever I m on a zombie binge reading streak Enclave, Dead City, Dead Tossed Waves Dead City was a fast and fun action packed read that was refreshing to read after reading way too many dystopias.Dead City was truly an interesting and original page turner unlike anything I ve read before Dead City is nothing short of awesome Molly [...]

    17. Zombies Mystery Teenage angst. If you are familiar with The Book Whisperer Awakening the Inner Reader in Every Child by Donalyn Miller, then you know that books from our less than favorite genres are sometimes kids FAVORITES Such it is with Dead City, and with Blue Moon.As an avid reader and lover of books, I always love that moment when my kids connect with a book so much that they want NEED to go get the next one immediately Not wait for the library hold, not wait for the paperback That day Imm [...]

    18. Dead City is a smart zombie read filled with sarcastic humor, my favorite Molly, the main character is low on friends at the super smart school she attends she doesn t quite fit in, which makes her both relatable and admirable at the same time she doesn t give in to staying friends with those who don t deserve her friendship. We don t see her on her own for too long though as the storyline picks up quickly and she is recruited into a zombie hunting group. This is no ordinary zombie hunting groups [...]

    19. RIP his ear went straight off Now I know this will teach you not to bother any of my friend ever again Natile said with cofidendnes which worked because he ran off WHAT JUST HAPPENED Dead City is a book about this girl Molly, she lives with her dad and her older sister Beth yup she has a normal lifeyou know go to school hang with he small number of friends, trains to fight the zombies wait oh right I forgot to tell you let me bring this back a little Molly works at the morage where her mom worked [...]

    20. When I picked up the book, I hadn t realized that it was NOT intended for a High School Junior who reads at an advanced level And though I know it was not intended for a reader like me, it was an interesting read. The beginning of the book begins with a sort of prologue, which explains very little but introduces a nice action plot It then throws you into the slow story of Molly Bigelow s life leading up to being a, yes, zombie hunter And though the book has a slower, a bit of a boring, start, it [...]

    21. I read Dead City by James Ponti This book is about a teenage girl named Molly Bigelow Molly is for the most part, a normal teenage girl She goes to school at the Metropolitan Institute of Science and Technology of MIST for short Her mother was a mortician and has recently died of cancer Molly wants to follow in her footsteps so she hangs out at the morgue Molly learns that there is a secret organization called the Omegas A group of people fighting to keep zombies controlled in the subway tunnels [...]

    22. The book is very suspenseful For you see within the first page I was hooked because you know how they started it with they started it with, I m trapped in a locker room toilet stall With a dead body To me that is how you hook a reader, so right now in my opinion the author, James Ponti, is doing quite well What I liked was the characters For he portrays Molly to be weird when really she s just trying to be like her mother and remember her But then I hate how they portray her sister to be some sn [...]

    23. Molly attends the morgue every Friday with her mother at least she used to now she goes alone ever since her mother died cause of cancer But when molly finds out that there are zombies all over Manhattan she now must become a zombie hunter same as her Mother As molly finds out about zombie hunting she realizes her mother has been training her to be zombie hunter ever since she was small and she has some big footsteps to follow Which leads molly to find out about her Mother s death realizing he [...]

    24. This book is probably the best book I have ever read It is thrilling, romantic, scary and heart breaking In the end, Molly finds her dead mother as a ZOMBIE Molly works at the morgue for the summer, when she is accepted into an Omega Team Omega is a group of people, working together to fight off Zombies that have intentions for killing off every Omega there ever was Past and Present The Prime O or Prime Omega, is in charge of everything Molly, Alex, Grayson and Natalie have to find a way to save [...]

    25. Much to my surprise, I enjoyed Dead City a lot The plot, with all its intricacies, is fast paced and smartly crafted Molly and her Omega team friends are very engaging agents for the protection destruction of the undead And, oh, the setting infused with so much history I went straight to the web to find pictures of ghost subway stations and Roosevelt Island and Blackwell HouseKudos to James Ponti for creating such a riveting story I predict lots of my students will become enthusiastic fans, too, [...]

    26. I love this book This book is so unlike any other zombie starring novels whereas those novels make the zombies bad guys, this book reveals zombies or the undead, they hate being called zombies in a whole new way Some are good, some are bad Level 1s, Level 2s, Level 3s.Omegas protect and rule over them all However, some of the undead are restlessey want to take over New York City.

    27. I can see why our youngest liked it It s all action and the story is a great concept I just wanted of it, depth, but perhaps I m watching too much Walking Dead I read and loved World War Z, so I see what a zombie story can be and so imagine my expectations were too high While it says great for a 5th grader, I think it s a bit light for that age group, maybe 3rd or 4th grade.

    28. This book was pretty good and really funny at some points If you think about it too much, it doesn t really work logistically like why would this agency leave the fate of the world in the hands of teenagers and not in the experienced zombie killers But if you don t think about it too much, it s a fun, quick read.

    29. describing the book in five words Mystery, science, fiction, funny, adventure, suspensful, detailedFavorite character is GraysonI liked how it was cheesy zombies and adventurous And i liked how every chapter ended with an amazing hook And i lied how the author ended with an AMAZING HOOKs i would recommend it.
