    1. I am not usually a fan of the short story genre because it is SO HARD to do well and so easy to do badly The 25 stories in this volume are not bad, but they didn t really move me the way short stories should There were some that I thought were better than others, El gambito de Ruy about a chess match that starts and ends before the players even get to the chess board, and Silly Asses were probably my two favorite, but for what Gomez Vega was trying to accomplish than what he actually did The sa [...]

    2. First off, I really only recommend reading this book if you are comfortable reading it in Spanish The English translation is certainly readable but unfortunately clunky Laureles a Gogo Laurels Galore is a collection of short stories by Manuel Vega Each story earned the author recognition in a writing competition Vega makes this fact abundantly clear both in the title as well as in a short preface to each story describing the competition and his victory I found this incredibly annoying Really, re [...]

    3. Another freebie This book is quite different from most that I read several shorter stories Overall, the stories seemed to be well written, but I couldn t get into them Too short for that to happen Clearly the writer and translator know their stuff If you re looking for well written stories with a bit of a higher reading level, this book is for you Some felt too much like English assignments for me.

    4. My thanks to Manuel Vega and Good Reads First Reads Giveaway Program for my copy of Laurels Galore 25 Short Stories.Over the years I have developed an appreciation of a good short story and this collection had many that were excellent and I enjoyed reading Laurels Galore 25 Short Stories, as a break from all the full length novels I read.

    5. I didn t like this book at all and feel the stories were to short to make any sense most of them , the author spent time introducing each of them and telling what award was won with it.I won this book in a giveaway.

    6. These stories were different from what I have ever read I did enjoy reading them, though Thanks for sending the books I haven t taken the extra one to my library yet, but I will soon.
