    1. I hate to say this, but this is actually the first Hunter book I have read I actually own all of her books, but something would happen and I kept pushing them down my to read list With Book 3 of her Dark Peak series coming out soon, it gave me the kick I needed to finally start this series All I can say is wow, and I m kicking myself for not reading it sooner. This book was great Hunter can really write I was so immersed in this story that I stayed up to 6am reading it I could not put this book d [...]

    2. For what it s worth this was fantastic from the beginning chapter to the last page of this book.e author s writing pace was good and the editing was even better, high intensity.ry well developed and defined characters around these two centralize leads which were alive and one can feel the energy and the action on the pages that they both showed even figured into how much they felt about each other friendship wise then maybe into a relationshipen we had the buddy cop friendship going ongood storyt [...]

    3. Cari Hunter takes a slight departure from the usual raining of mayhem on the main character to wellyhem on the supporting character 8 This book has police medical procedural elements than her previous books, which is a interesting change of pace The main characters, a cop and an ER doctor, are a wonderful mix of strength and vulnerability They are a refreshingly unusual non couple BFF with benefits since their teens, both have tenaciously overcome abusive or less than ideal childhoods to have s [...]

    4. Read the opening prologue to No Good Reason and you know you are in for an exciting crime drama equal to popular work by thriller writers in mainstream fiction today Hunter s writing is spare while still being descriptive She knows how to build tension and her pacing is spot on She also understands that every thriller or police procedural needs strong protagonists and secondary characters and she delivers on all counts Add in some witty dialogue and a setting which acts as a character of its own [...]

    5. The most beautiful thing of the book are the dear, human, loving, emotionally rich characters Meg and Sanne.Meg is the loving, caring friend and lover of Sanne She s the one who stitches her wounds, both physical and emotional Even if it s not always easy loving Sanne.Sanne is the true protagonist of the story She is an anti heroine She so complex that it s difficult to describe her in a few words Let s say she is powerfully sentimental and frail She s as far as possible than a cold minded polic [...]

    6. Wow This book is fantastic.Sanne Jensen is the junior detective on the district s major crimes squad while out mud running on the moors the Peak district is famous for, she with the help of two local lads finds herself rescuing an unconscious kidnapping victim What follows is a patient, steady investigation never boring or slow, but replete with actual things that actual policemen do door knocking, contact building, and taking advantage of bloody good luck This is the novel of the bloodhound, no [...]

    7. Superb One of the best crime thrillers in have read in a very long while This author s writing just gets better and better. For me this had everything, plot, characters, setting and wonderful dialogue.I m now desperate for the next in the series to be available.Buy this now, you will not regret it.

    8. This book has been on my TBR list since before it was published Full disclosure I m a friend of the author I ve known her for several years and love her sharp wit and dry, dark humor I also love her writing voice and style and I knew that I d enjoy this book So why did I wait so long to read it Easy I have very little time to read anything with my eyeballs and I didn t want to use a text to speech reader for this book Sanne and Meg sound like Cari and when I m reading with my eyes, I hear their [...]

    9. I really, really liked the main characters The mystery was pretty interesting and very well written, but what really stood out for me was Sanne and Meg Both as individuals and as a pair.Outside the box can work too.

    10. Why did I wait so long to read this book It s exactly the kind of story and writing style that I like, a page turner, exciting crime novel, with very human and believable connection between the main characters.I m definitely going to read the rest of these series, but also the rest of Cari Hunter s books.I think I have a new favourite author

    11. I am bloody loving this series on audio San and Meg are pitch perfect and Nelson is just a joy His can I hinterest you in a hafter dinner mint had me rolling and that was solely down to Ms Vincent s spin on the line view spoiler The scenes between San and Josie pack a proper punch as well, purely because of how well acted they are They d been upsetting to write but they re infinitely upsetting to listen to hide spoiler

    12. I love Cari Hunter s books They re just hard to put down and who doesn t love Sanne and Meg This was my second read of this because I wanted to read the new one in the series It was even better the second time Great job.

    13. Awesome Cari Hunter just keeps getting better This is one good page turner of a book Read it over the course of a lazy afternoon The writing and pace are fantastic With a cop and an ER doctor as main characters, there s a crime to solve, medical jargon, humour, and plenty of Britishisms The author also does not shy away from writing about the grittier side of life The relationship between Sanne and Meg is of course the focal point, but Sanne s relationship with her family and her colleagues are [...]

    14. This is my first time reading a book by this author and I don t regret it.The narrative is very good, fluid and held me all the time.Despite not having been able to enjoy the main characters as a romantic couple, the story, fortunately, doesn t focus much on this genre Which I think was a big factor for me liking the book so much.I m still confused if I will buy the next volume, since in the future the tendency will be to explore the love relationship between the characters and how I don t reall [...]

    15. The prologue was gripping Wonderful first book in the the Dark Peak Series Glad I took to heart the reviews Best friends with benefits That can be cool, if both parties agree Dr Meg Fielding, feisty and full of life Detective Sanne Jensen, cautious and bent on doing the right thing The depth and fullness of each character made me care about them and the challenges they faced I wanted them to have each other as support systems because they needed someone to lean on I also liked Sanne s partner, N [...]

    16. A very well written and superb mystery I can t wait to read the second and third book in the Sanne and Meg series Now, I m just going to make my cup of tea.

    17. I had to leave off writing this review for a few days till my heart rate returned to normal and till I d developed enough distance not to gush but even now it will be difficult not to overuse the superlatives Ms Hunter has succeeded in creating a loveable policewoman main character, Sanne, who is real and has human needs and feels pain and bleeds for her cases Sometimes literally The other main character, Meg, is a doctor and unlike any doctor I ve ever come across in years of NHS working and th [...]

    18. The new book by the author of Snowbound This was pretty refreshing in that San and Meg are best of friends and have that level of familiarity and comfort that comes from being together for a long time I found it really cute that they don t think of themselves as a couple, even though everyone around them already sees them as a married couple in everything but name, hahaAnyway, if you have read her previous books, it s no surprise that the book is lighter on the romance and heavier on the action [...]

    19. Another page turner from Cari Hunter I think she gets better as she goes This one had all the things I really enjoy when reading characters who are likeable and believable, a good mystery, twists and turns, dashes of humor, and a little romance thrown in for good measure A great read that kept me up way too late because I just couldn t put it down.

    20. I really enjoyed this book I loved Sanne and Meg Their chemistry was great Even though Sanne was very strong it showed she could be vulnerable at times There was a lot of action that kept me interested.

    21. 3.75 It was a very well written book with fantastic characters my only wishes were view spoiler I wanted the main characters to admit how they felt for each other at the end I also would like to have known about the women after the rescue hide spoiler

    22. Crime thrillers are what I d call my guilty pleasure reading and books with lesbian characters will always top my reading list, so this first in a series novel, featuring not one, but two fantastically realised, honest, strong lesbian lead characters ticked all of my boxes.I could not get enough of this book It had all of the mainstays of gripping crime fiction a puzzling, grisly crime, a whole cast of nefarious possible suspects and a totally believable, loveable and realistic police detective, [...]

    23. Really engaging thriller character development was MUCH better than average and I really grew attached to the two main characters.

    24. 4.5 Boy am I in trouble after reading this Because I now realize that not only will I not rest until I ve read book 2 Cold to the Touch and recently released book 3 A Quiet Death of The Dark Peak series I will most likely go straight to Desolation Point and then it s sequel Tumbledown as well I honestly didn t expect I would like this book so much It kept me riveted until the last page Mind you this is not a light read because it deals with some very very dark themes which can be triggering to s [...]

    25. There are a lot of things to like about this story 1 is the relationship between Sanne and Meg 2 is how Cari Hunter handled the telling of the story I really liked that as the reader we are seeing the investigation and the aftermath of the crime but we don t actually witness the crime as it occurs 3 I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the use of British English Most of the time I was able to figure out what some of the slang meant just based on the context of the sentence Otherwise, my kindle [...]

    26. Good mysteryThis what you get this book a good mystery minus romance I liked the characters Sanne and Meg What I liked about Sanne was she wasn t your typical bad ass cop She admitted to being scared The only thing I found that bothered me a little but not enough to stop reading was The books pace was slow, I like my mysterious fast pace I did feel like I have visited England even though I never been I do recommend this book Off to read book 2.

    27. Sanne goes out for a run and comes across two boys trying to help an injured woman The two main characters are Sanne, a detective and Meg who is a doctor in AE This is a crime drama set in the Derbyshire Peak District which makes a nice change The women are also a couple but not officially although everyone thinks they should be I liked these ladies and look forward to their next adventure Book provided by Publisher and Netgalley for review.

    28. Delightfully romance formula free.Dragged a bit in the middle, but otherwise I enjoyed it Really liked the characters and their backgrounds Loved that BSB didn t mess with the Englishness of this novel.

    29. Excellent read If you looking for a lot of sexy times, skip it, but it was a good crime mystery I haven t read a book where I pretty much stayed up till I was done in a long time, just cause I couldn t sleep till I knew what happened
