ARC provided by NetGalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book All thoughts and opinions are my own.Rating 3.25 3.5 wrestling with the actual rating Lady Sophie is climbing a tree determined to spy on the man she s been infatuated with for years She had seen him with another woman headed into a room Well she was determined to see what the two were up too and was unhappy to see him down on one knee proposing Saddened but not [...]

    2. Having just watched the series Victoria , I was delighted to see the Queen s appearance in The Devilish Duke The Queen has insisted that Devlin Markham, who is known as the Devil Duke of Huntington, must marry if she is to agree to his plans for the Transatlantic telegraph cable, an event that actually took place during the reign of Queen Victoria When this demand is made, he instantly thinks of Lady Sophie Wolcott Sophie accepts his proposal in order to save an orphanage that she has long been [...]

    3. I really loved this book Devlin and Sophie were made for each other, and their dialogue was sparkling and witty The secondary characters were fab especially loved Aunt Mabel she made me laugh and Sophie s brother Daniel was rather dishy hope he gets his own book The pacing was great and the murder mystery had me guessing who the bad guy was right up to the end This was a wonderful read from a debut author, and I will definitely be looking forward to her future books This ARC was provided by the [...]

    5. A marvelous debut novel for Maddison Michaels Skillfully plotted and full of romance and a mystery to be solved, I really could not put this one down Using the setting of the Victorian era, there is even a meeting with Queen Victoria and our hero, Devlin Markham, the Devil Duke of Huntington When a story starts out and I find myself laughing out loud pretty quickly, I know I am in for a great read Lady Sophie Wolcott is in love and she finds herself up in a tree spying on her beloved proposing t [...]

    8. I received an ARC of this book to read from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review The Devilish Duke by Maddison Michaels is the first book that I have read by this author and it most certainly will not be the last I was hooked from the moment our intrepid heroine catches our hero s attention by falling out of a tree to land at his feet interrupting his assignation with a Lady who is someone else s wife Lady Sophie Woollcott has decided not to marry, the one man she thought she loved has marrie [...]

    9. OMG I just read this book via netgalley and I couldn t put it down The chemistry between Devlin and Sophie was electric, I had to keep reading to see their connection building Sophie is a feisty and spirited character who does what she needs to do And well, Devlin, wow he is the type of man that you would imagine sweeping you off your feet with brutish charm and charisma that is just a little bit wicked The story kept moving and kept me wanting to find out what was happening next I m still think [...]

    10. I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book All opinion stated are solely my own and no one elses The Devilish Duke was a fantastic read and I enjoyed it from beginning to end This book has it all romance, wit, humour, danger, mystery and suspense lets just say there was never a dull moment The book was written beautifully but quite slow paced The beginning with Sophie hiding in the tree was extremely funny especially, when she fell out of it and ended up in front of Devlin You could sense the [...]

    11. Who doesn t love a devilish duke Especially one who has a butt like the guy on the cover of this book And there is nothing I like than a businesslike marriage of convenience that quickly skates over the edge into pleasure Anyhow, I hugely enjoyed this Victorian romance and found the mystery that is skillfully woven throughout the story an added bonus Excellent chemistry between Devlin and Sophie and just enough bickering and tension to keep me turning pages, but not make me want to throttle eit [...]

    12. I love it when you take a chance on a new author and you love the story Definitely this author I laughed a lot during this book the witty dialog between Devlin and Sophie, Aunt Mabel, Nicholas, and the fights between Devlin and Daniel, Sophie s brother The fights were not just verbal, oh no, physical altercations with rooms being in disarray afterwards Devlin and Sophie were perfect together, yes, they seemed polar opposites but opposite attract, right And is Devlin really the Devil Duke or just [...]

    13. This was sheer, ridiculous fun All my favorite tropes, so if you like rakes bluestockings and unnecessary amounts of angst via People Needing Revenge, this is probably a good fit for you The romance was a bit too insta love, and the Queen Victoria part was odd, but overall, a fun, do recommend ARC provided by publisher via NetGalley did not affect nor influence the content of this review.

    14. This is my first book from Maddison Michaels and I really enjoyed it I loved the banter between the two characters It was lovely I ll definitely check out of her books.I received this copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review that is all my own.

    15. Maybe 4.5 stars there was a lot to like about this book and I really enjoyed the author s writing style, she was able to change the tone of the book going from fun and flirty to down right terrifying and back to fun without disrupting the flow of the story, which in my experience is quite impressive, especially from a debut author Lady Sophie Wolcott and Devlin Markham, the Duke of Huntington meet when Sophie falls out of tree after spying on the man of her dreams and seeing him propose to anoth [...]

    16. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.When a romance novel or really any novel opens with a Victorian era, bluestocking, just about old enough to be considered a spinster female protagonist falling out of a tree because she climbed it to spy on the man of her dreams propose to another woman well, you know you ve got one interesting, captivating, and convention breaking main character And then, a few chapters later, an Earl and a Duke exchange in fisticuffs in said female protagonist [...]

    17. The Devilish Duke is one of those books which have everything, romance, intrigue, suspense, mystery, rakish hero, independent and strong heroine, and a lot It s a really well written historical fiction, the kind of book which has the ability to make you fall in love with the genre I genuinely enjoyed reading it, especially because of the characters They are all amazing and fun to read about.Devlin and Sophie s first encounter was a year ago, and it wasn t something either of them could forget, [...]

    18. Bedeviled Our first, and Devlin Markham, the infamous Devil Duke of Huntington s first introduction to Lady Sophie Wolcott is rather intriguing After all how many debutantes land at your feet, from a branch overhead, just as about your pleasant interlude with a dashing wife someone else s of course was well underway And the pace doesn t let up from here Twelve months later, Huntington finds himself under royal decree to marry and Sophie springs to mind Sophie finds herself in rather a tough plac [...]

    20. I was a little uncertain over the heroine at the start a young lady with an infatuation over a childhood friend but she turned out to be a most wonderful heroine After her initial disappointment over her crush marrying another lady, Sophie puts it behind her and determines that marriage is quite irrelevant and devotes herself to the children of the orphanage that she sponsors I loved that Sophie is totally committed to the orphans whom she considers very much part of her family that everyone in [...]

    21. I enjoyed the writing There is great chemistry between Devlin and Sophie you get a good taste of the life of the ton as well as the servants and I really enjoyed the twists of the mystery I did not see the ending coming Eagerly looking forward to of Ms Michaels books.

    22. ARC provided by the author for an honest review Absolutely captivating and witty, The Devilish Duke by Maddison Michaels was a great historical romance I loved it, couldn t put it down She had me from the very first chapter, this book was engaging and entertaining It had me laughing out loud, but it was also heartfelt and at times suspenseful I think Maddison did an excellent job bringing these characters and their story to life Lady Sophie Wolcott is hard not to love She is very strong willed, [...]

Devlin Markham, the notorious Devil Duke of Huntington, needs a woman And not just any woman If he can t woo one of the most eccentric bluestockings of the Ton within the month, he can kiss his hard earned fortune goodbye But he s always thought love a wasted emotion and marriage an inconvenience at best And oddly enough, Lady Sophie Wolcott seems unmoved by his charmWhen Sophie learns her beloved orphanage on Grey Street is in imminent danger, she will do anything to save it I was drawn into th [...]

    26. The Devilish Duke begins with Lady Sophie spying on a man with whom she s been in love with for a very long time, only to see him to propose to another Heartbroken, her mind is whirling, but that s not the most painful part That would be her falling out of the tree she had climbed to spy .right in front of the Duke of Huntington himself, Devlin Markham Of course, Sophie knows the Duke, and his reputation, and is mortified Fortunately for her, Devlin is very discreet and aids her, even though the [...]

    27. I received this ARC from NetGalley and voluntarily chose to write a review 3.5 starsThis book was so much fun to read I love a good rake and bluestocking story I ll never get tired of this trope even though I ve read so many stories with rakes and bluestockings The Devilish Duke reminded me exactly of the reasons why Historical Romance is my favourite genre It was funny and heartfelt The hero and heroine were well written and the dialogue was witty It had many of the tropes that made me fall in [...]

    28. During an humorous first meeting where Lady Sophie Wolcott literally falls at the feet of Devlin Markham, the Duke of Huntington, Sophie leaves quite the impression When a lucrative business deal rides on marrying a respectable woman of the Ton, Devlin knows just who his target will be He has no time to waste so a bit of blackmail just might be in order. The Devil Duke s success has made him some enemies over the years and they seem to be getting close to Sophie When two women are murdered Devlin [...]

    29. Maddison Michaels debut Victorian romance is a stunner It even begins with a cameo from Queen Victoria herself We are delighted Devlin Markham Huntington is the so called devilish duke of the title He needs a wife, and it might have something to do with a suggestion from the afore mentioned Queen, tangled up with business So, with a little emotional blackmail regarding funding for an orphanage, he becomes betrothed to the delightful Lady Sophie Wolcott She is highly resistant to his charms, she [...]

    30. I got this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review One afternoon, one book Sophie has an orphanage to take care of and it is in danger On the other side is Devlin, the Devil Duke of Huntington who is in need of a wife and he has to get the most eccentric woman to marry him within a month to get his inheritance Easily said easily done if there wouldn t be a killer who tries to hurt people He kills downstairs people, people who are connected to Sophie This was one of the quickest reads [...]
